Description
The Word Level Readers are a structured series of 64 engaging, decodable books for students who have mastered basic phonics and are ready to extend their reading skills.
Spanning Levels 1 to 16, these readers are designed to reinforce key phonics patterns, build vocabulary, and develop reading fluency.
Each story follows a narrative arc with a beginning, middle, and end — real stories for real progress. Created in collaboration with Joy Allcock, a respected New Zealand literacy educator, the series reflects her sound-to-print approach, which helps students connect spoken sounds with written words in a systematic and effective way.
The Word Level Readers were a core component of the Shine Literacy Project, and Joy continues to support the series as an important tool for early literacy instruction.
