MAKING CONNECTIONS is intended for readers of all ages. It is designed for all those who wish to know more about the remarkable renaissance in Maori Art, as well as those with a special interest in art. We hope that it will be of particular appeal to students in schools and other education institutions. For this reason the questions guiding our writing have concerned where John finds his sources and ideas, and how he brings those ideas to fruition in the form of carvings and paintings. This book is as much about who John is and how he works as about his finished art works.
