Kids in Time
Kids in Time is a social studies “faction” series which puts fictional “hero” kids in a factually accurate setting to present and discuss specific events in New Zealand’s history.
Aimed at a reading age of 9 to 11 years these titles are also popular as class reading sets and are often purchased for the library. They have curriculum and language interest in both primary and high school, from year 6 to year 9. They are also well used in Learning Support departments. Two of the current titles have direct Maori Studies relevance.
Told through the eyes of children participating in the events covered, the series brings to life the events of the past with illustrations that match the text. The current titles have all been written by well known Dunedin author and teacher, Keith Tonkin.
